Tasty and Crunchy Doughnut

Doughnut

Ingredients:
v    5 cups of flour
v    2 eggs
v    1.5 cups warm milk
v    ¼ tsp nutmeg
v    1 tsp of salt
v    ½ cup of sugar
v    ¼ cup of warm water
v    1/3 cup of shortening
v    Oil for deep frying

Directions:
1.     Sieve flour, salt and nutmeg.
2.     Add the sugar and yeast to the flour mixture.
3.     Add the warm water and milk.
4.     Melt the vegetable shortening and add to the mixture.
5.     Rub in the beaten egg and mix all the ingredients in a bowl and leave for 10 minutes.
6.     Place on a smooth surface and knead for about 5 minutes
7.     Leave to rise for about 1.5 hours
8.     Knead on floured surface for 8 minutes and roll out.
9.     Cut out with a doughnut cutter and place in a tray for one hour.
10.                       Put the oil on fire and when it’s hot, deep fry

You may put jam or thick prepared custard in between before frying.
