Meat Pie & Sausage Rolls


Ingredients for the dough:
  •      250g flour
  •      A pinch of salt
  •      A pinch of mixed spices
  •      ½ nutmeg
  •      1 egg (egg white)
  •      100g butter
  •      Egg yolk for glazing


Ingredients for filling:
  •     100g meat, cook and dice or blend
  •     1 cup chopped/meshed carrots
  •     1 cup chopped/meshed potato
  •     11 tsp rich stock
  •     Salt to taste
  •     Putting it all together


Filling meat pie:
  •      Season the meat, cook and dice or blend
  •      Add the chopped/meshed carrots
  •      Add the chopped/meshed potato
  •      Put the stock to create a good mix or paste
  •      Salt to taste

Place a portion in half of the round cut out dough,
cover with the other half and seal with a fork or use the meat pie cutter.

Sausage rolls:
  1.        Mix raw sausage till slightly lighter
  2.      Put on the cut out pastry dough and roll up for baking
  3.       Arrange on the prepared greased wax prepared tray
  4.      Brush egg yolk over the pastry
  5.      Pop into the oven (moderate heat)
  6.      Bake for about 20 minutes and brush with egg yolk again
  7.      Monitor until it is golden brown and baked
  8.      Mix all ingredients together and rub in to get the dough
  9.      Put into the fridge for about 1 hour to mature
  10.       Knead and roll out on a flat surface to cut into required shapes
    Circle shapes for meat pie and rectangular shapes for sausage rolls or use the meat pie cutter for your meat pie.
